The Hickman, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, received its Certificate of Occupancy on January 26, 2018 for the new Anna T. Jeanes building. This building replaces the 125 year old Sharpless Hall building that was located adjacent to The Hickman on the Quaker Block. The Sharpless Hall building was unable to meet the needs of today’s residents and suffered from numerous inefficiencies. The new Anna T. Jeanes Building will address those needs.
The Anne T. Jeanes building will be 3 story, household model, with 69 rooms and a gable roof. It will offer a secure, first-floor dementia care program with its own outdoor garden, both personal care and supportive residential living on the second and third floors, country kitchens and multiple dining rooms so residents can have more choices regarding their dining experience in a home-like setting, and will feature newer technologies and improved fire safety elements.

The expansion will have 64 independent living units, upwards of 30,000 square feet of new common areas and amenities, including a new wellness center with a pool, new dining venues, and renovations to the existing commons building. The new building is expected to be available for occupancy in mid-2019, and the renovations are scheduled for completion in late 2019. In addition to Greenbrier, key project team members include THW Design, WM Jordan, and BB&T Capital Markets.
